Fuel pump adjustment- possible?

Hey y'all, I have a stock, glass bowl fuel pump on my '34 motor.
The outlet is exiting right against the carb body (running 2 dueces on a Fenton intake) so..my question:
Can I remove the screws that hold the pump together and rotate the top section CCW one screw hole and reinstall the screws to put it back together,,,and the pump still work properly?
Is this possible?

Yes, think this process is called "clocking", and in fact, you can move it more than one hole and the pump won't care within reason!! Good luck!!

Just make sure the diaphragm stays with the body and only the lid rotates.

P.S. There is nothing "stock" about a glass bowl fuel pump on a '34 Ford.

Bought a new Drake fuel pump and the inlet and outlet didn’t line up. I took top off and moved it one bolt hole to fix. Too bad it put out more than 5 psi.

Yes. Your thoughts are 100% correct. Adjust as needed. Tighten evenly and in a crisscross pattern to prevent any potential warping of the top/body.

I like the glass bowl ones. One more step to help keep the gunk out.

I am no expert, but I seem to remember a procedure from the Ford Service Bulletins to depress the actuator arm partway before tightening the cover screws to prevent installing the diaphragm in a stretched condition. I am away from home right now and can’t confirm the exact procedure.

marko39 I could be wrong, but the tension of the spring in the pump is what generates the output pressure. If your old is still available, swap the spring from it to the new pump.

i shall try this as i have several old pumps but dont know if they are the same as the china Drake pump.

Kind of same topic here, has anyone ever tried shortening the pressure spring to lower the psi in their fuel pump? I've tried it on my 36 dodge and it worked there. I just don't like the idea of a pressure regulator. Tim

You are not wrong. I took apart the new pump(5psi) and an old one. The springs are the same height and thickness but the new one was stiffer. Installed the old spring in the new pump and now have a usable pump. If you’ve never taken one apart ( like me) it can be a little tricky.

This is all good info, but I'd say that a fuel pump disassembly/rebuild would be about the simplest task of any to be undertaken, save perhaps an oil change.
