Transmission identification?
Hello folks
I have a sideshift 3speed transmission here but donīt know where it came from or what period it is, maybe you can give advice - as usual! Thanks in advance Harty |

Not really sure but it sure looks like the one that was in my '49 Mercury. (open driveshaft)
As a matter of fact it seems that I can see some Mercury green engine paint residue on the edge of the mounting flange.

Looks like the non overdrive Mercury transmission used from 1949 through very early 1951. Canadian cars were both Mercury and Monarch in those years. I don't know if anything like this was available in Europe. I see an 8M prefix on the tail housing which indicates Mercury origin from that time frame.
