Default Rear Transmission Bearing Retainer

I found this on a transmission, anyone recognize it? It's seen better days, I think it was on a unit that powered some other equipment.

it appears like someone homemade tried to fix a leaky transmission by using a seal, can you take the large sloted screws out and the old seal to see whats underneath?
