Default Can I Safely Open Spider at Steering Column

Can I just move the spring clip and the bottom of the spider opens or will "stuff" fall out and get loose. I'd like to clean in there, but if it ain't broke don't fix it" may apply.

They are easy to get off but hard to get back on. My wife had to help me with this and now I owe her big. Also, some of the clips that the vendors are selling need modification to fit.

Well here's the truth... the horn started "growling"...not blowing just an occasional low growl, that stops when I actually blow the horn. I wiggled the wires at the spider and it growls....so I was thinking.............I was thinking it's only once in awhile, it's a horn not the lights, if I touch this it will become a complete rebuild of the entire car......I was thinking!!!! I did just now lay under the car and cleaned the "drain" hole...should I shoot some WD -40 in there or something more more solvent like....help. Thanks.

I'd remove cover and look, no spray, easy to do! Or maybe try some electrical spray cleaner, never tried that but might work. You can do it!!!

Disconnect the battery. That yellow wire is hot.
