After speaking to a Coker rep. at SEMA, I came away with the idea that a lot of their tires are made off-shore. If anyone can add some clarification, I'd appreciate it.

The last set of Denman tires I bought don't have a " made in " on the tire but the last set of Firestone's I bought say " made in U.S.A. " on them . Both types are 5.25-5.50x17 . Bought the firestones from Summit & the Denmans from Lucas .

OldIron, I think Felix would be in a better position to answer that question, but I can tell you this... There were firestone repops made in Argentina, I think in the 70's? that used inferior rubber. They were still being sold here as late as the 80's & early 90's, giving Firestones a bad rep. Corky Coker bought the original Firestone Service Replacement molds, and I believe makes them in Tennesee. The quality of those tires is as good as it gets but for one thing, that being a higher percentage of out of balance tires reaching the public than should be acceptable. This may well be a human error issue in the wrap of the raw rubber: incorrect shave at the overlap. Being a pain for the buyer, because the problem is not discovered until installation and balancing, the out of balance tires are serviceable, but require more wieghts than is usual. I do know that Corky stands behind his product and will make it right. This was the case as reported a while back, and may have been corrected by now.

Coker does also sell other products than his own, of which I can't comment on. I know if you call in your order, that hearing that sweet (female) Chatanooga accent will sure brighten your day!

Certain sizes such as the 30x3 1/2 and 30x3 tires for Model T's are made in Viet Nam. Interesting thing about some other common used sizes is that they are bigger around than original tires, examble being 450x19 and 240x18, Model A and B tires. I got my BF Goodrich 18s from Coker and believe they are US made and seem to be good tires. The oversize gives a little more speed and gas mileage.

The firestones I bought last winter did indeed come from coker - I bought them from summit but they are coker . Musta lucked out as they were close enough to not use weights on them & they drive fine { 5,000 } & show virtually no wear . Now I know why these are so much better than the firestones I bought in 1985 . Almost didn't buy the new ones remembering the crappy set .

So to close the loop, there are NO tire factories in the lower 48 making tires for our beloved Model As and early Fords.

Seems pretty clear to me that the 5.25-5.50 x 17 firestones are made here now & others are mentioned above .
