Early V8 club went on an adventure!
This weekend the Early Ford V8 club I am in went down to Lewiston, ID to take a tour of the Snake River via powerboat! It was about a 120 mile drive each way, and the river trip was 100 miles each way! We had a blast, weather was good and drinks were cold We left Friday morning taking back roads to Lewiston and we had a garage tour that afternoon.
Heres some pics from Friday: My Dad had the pin come out of transmission linkage that holds the throw out bearing arm to the linkage....meaning no clutch! A lock nut and bolt got us back on the road in no time

Re: Early V8 club went on an adventure!
From there we continued to Lewiston. For those that have been there, Lewiston is down in a hole. You go down a very steep grade for 6 miles. Trucks have been know to loose there brakes, and there are runnaway ramps all the way down.
This is the garage tour we had. This guy had some AWESOME stuff, some very nice cars and cold beer on tap! Had a great time!! I was in love with this thing. A 41-48 Ford or Merc ragtop is next on my "list"

Re: Early V8 club went on an adventure!
Saturday morning we did the boat rid. We left at 8 and got back at 5. Like I said, it was a 100 mile run each way! These boats have 3 Yanmar 6 cylinder turbo diesel's and they haul! We had about 40 people on each boat (2 total). Going upstream we were going about 35 at about 3700 RPM, coming back down we were going about 50 at 3000 RPM! It was a blast! We saw bear, sheep, big horns, eagles, etc. The canyons are know as "Hells Canyon" as it gets very hot during the summer. Those boats were crazy, they cost around 300,000 each! If your ever in the area and have a day I recommend it, super cool way to see something you probably will not ever get a chance to otherwise!
These are Native American carvings, very cool! And me following my parents on the way home! What a weekend!!

Great pictures, thanks for shareing them. Driven the Lewiston grade many times, hope there have been some improvements in the last 30 years; used to have a lot of brake fade by the time we got to the bottom! Dick |

Great fun and photos. Touring with a group of old Fords sure is fun and an adventure. Touring sure beats polishing. Think what those trailer queens are missing! We have some tours planned this summer and like sex, half the fun is the anticipation. John

Wow! Looks like a great day out, and something a bit different, too, with the boat ride.

Thanks Chris. Great pics & good lens on the camera.
Don't recommend going down that grade with surge brakes on a trailer. Been there done that & won't do it again. Riggins has another to match that one. |

Wow great trip and wonderful cars! I had an un-restored 4 door like that a long time ago. Wish I could have come along on that outing.

Re: Early V8 club went on an adventure!
Very nice pictures. Looks like a great trip! Who is looking for a Ford/Merc convertible? I have a '48 Mercury conv. For Sale. I have not had a chance to advertise it as yet. It is in my humble opinion a high 3 - 2. It is unmolested with every option offered by Henry and then some. It has been kept in a climate controlled garage, never ( since refurbishing in '86 ) driven in the rain or snow. Would need a few minor details to bring it up to a solid 2 or #1. It always brings many thumbs up whenever I take it for a cruise. The price is $38,500.00 I am located on Long Island, N.Y. my email is [email protected] or phone @ 631-728-0119. Thanks, Rich.

I am looking for one, however with my income cannot buy one of that nature. Looking more for an old neglected original, or abandoned project. Thanks though!

Yes, we all drive our cars quite a bit. I love tours, gets everyone out and using these things! I drive my pickup in all kinds of weather, but then again it's a little weathered to!!
