Default It's Over

It is over for the next four months here in Maine. Too cold to crank up the 1914 T and now that it has snowed, it is too messy and cold to take out the 32 Coupe. Everything is jacked up and covered to keep the dust off. Now its time to make war with the mice with Decon and traps. I swear this time of year can be harmful to me. Anything that needs to be repaired or upgraded comes into the basement to be worked on if I can easily get it off the cars. Worse yet, I have no excuses and have to face all those projects that my wife wants done.

How do the rest of you guys cope with the winter months and stay sane?

About the same. Basement repairs on items that come off the cars and lots of honey dos that I don't have any excuses not to do.

Ed, I think you are on dangerous ground if you assume that any of us are sane! I grew up in MA & ME so I reel your pain. I now live in western WA which is generally in the 40s and rainy during the winter. Because of the near constant rain for the next 6 months, now is the time for repair and modification projects. Before I retired I built a 30 x 40' shop that I heat with a pellet stove. I also have a small refrig and a microwave so I spend a lot of time out here. I've got two 50 Fords and this winter's project is a new speedo cable on one and minor body work on the other. Annual service will come at the end of winter. I would normally plan larger projects but had back surgery in Oct so I am moving a little slow this year. We do occasionally have a few inches of snow so I keep my old NE snow shovel handy but mostly as an object of curiousity.

I'm redoing our bedroom after 20 years, even ripping out the narrow closets for more room and bigger doors. I miss working on "Merlot", but I get to drive him in the nice weather.

I've been cleaning track on my train layout all morning. About 1/2 done. Now on break to move some Packard parts around. Momma out shopping so my grease rags just got a good wash... The 39 needs a start and check up. My cousin is coming next week and the truck needs to be ready for her to inspect/drive. Model A and Packard showed at Fairfax Station show last week. About 1000 visited the cars and the running trains. Clem

I regained my sanity when I moved from Long Island, NY to Tampa, FL twenty years ago... Never have to worry about snow, ice or salt on the roads and it never stays too cold for too long... although it is a bit cool today but the weather girl said that by Saturday it’ll be back up to the mid 70’s.

My 8 year old grandson says that you have to embrace the snow. Personally, I embrace the hot tub when in Montana.

I grew up in MN, went to school in ME, came to SC in the Army, married a local girl, and ended up staying here. Best move I ever made

When the snow melts in Detroit I get out the antiques, or the Harley. Just rode the bike yesterday.

The cold weather has set in and the 35 is put away for about four months. But lots of projects to do in those cold snowy days in Ma. I have 1962 McLean big wheel tractor that need to be finished along with a 1938 Alto Pal 1.5 hp. outboard that needs new life. And a long honey do list that might get done. Hope the wife doesn't read the form. Then there is an old friend that has a never ending list of greasy junk to pull wrenchs on. Chet/Ma.
