Default Oil Pump and Valve Chamber Question

Has anyone ever dropped their oil pan and found the oil pump stuck? I removed the screw in the block where a bolt can be placed to keep the oil pump in place, but this had no affect. I'd like to inspect the oil pump.

Removed the valve cover - no oil in the valve chamber, and I've always been told to expect some oil to pour out when the valve cover was removed. Note, before draining the oil, the level on on the dipstick was just below full. Has anyone experienced this before?

Rock the engine back and forth a bit forth a bit. Might just have a bit of a bind against the cam shaft. Put something soft under the oil pump in case it drops out while you are doing this.

My oil pump took some effort to remove. You don't really need to remove it to inspect, just take the bottom plate off and the gears will come out. Not much to them. I've had my valve cover off a few times and never had oil run out. There is oil in there but not so much that it runs out, at least with my engine.

If it has had enough time for the oil to run back down into the oil pan there should be no leak when the valve cover is removed .

That is a tapered pipe thread hole not a straight thread like a bolt.
