Default 37 dist cap orientation

Rewiring the spark plugs on a 1937 engine but forgot to notice how the plate inside the cap is oriented to the cap. There is one raised place on the plate but there are two places where it fits in the cap about 135 degrees apart.

I only took off one wire at a time so the wires are right in the plate but how do I get the plate right in the cap? Thanks.

The outer cap points back toward the coil.

Drivers side inner cap is orintated with the #'s on the plate 5,6,7an8 are right side up looking at them. Pass side plate is orintated w/ 1,2,3an4 are right side up. other #'s on the plates will be upside down Hope this is clear as mud. lol ken ct,

you cant really put it in backwards because of the tabs, on the inside of the rotor under the turtle shell it says the spark plug number so you can mark the plug wires.

Ken, don't get your undies in a bunch, he's just repeating what you said in his own language.

John H>>>plate inside the cap is oriented to the cap.>>>

Hi John
I don't bother with the caps. Too hard to stuff 'em with all the plug wires especially if you go to 8mm. My plates are held to the distributor housing with a simple rubber bungie. The plug wires are encased in split looms to keep it all neatly together.

Jack, dump the bungee, go with duck tape. It comes in designer colors now.

Good idea Alan! To better color-coordinate with Ford motor green, I could also use designer-color duct tape to help keep my heater-hose split looms together! 8^)

This engine powers a 1938 Hobart welder so the extra part is a Pierce governor. It also has a 1 barrel carb from a Ford 6 mounted on a brass adaptor. Runs great.
