Default 41 Passenger Running Board Mounting Pads

Hi All

I got the running board covers and am reading all the threads regarding gluing these up. But for mounting back on the body; Macs has 42-48 mounting kits with the small rubber washers (like fender washers) that mount the running board edge to the rocker panels.

But on mine there are also wider mounting pads the go below the running board where it bolts to the frame crossmembers at the A and B pillar bases.. These pads are over 2 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick

I found a picture:

Does anyone know of a comparable pad or grommet that could be used?

They look a lot like the body mounting insulators that are used on my 51 Mercury but I'm not certain of the thickness. The diameter is pretty close though. Some Fords use round for body mounts and some use square.

If you have a "Gasket Shop" in your local area, they would have rubber that you could glue together to get the proper thickness. Or, you could look for a rubber supply shop that makes rubber parts. I have bought rubber from a place in Seattle, Washington called Scougal Rubber. They carry rubber of many differant thicknesses and durometer/hardness. You may have s hop like this near you.

Thanks for the suggestions all. I went through my boxes (we moved in the middle of this project) and found a set of body mounts I'd ordered a long time ago. I was apparently drunk, or just overenthusiastic, and actually thought of removing the body from the frame...then I got back to reality.

Anyway, drilled some holes in the rubber and they work perfectly

I actually found the covers easy to glue on. I used a lot of clothespins to hold the lip edge in place and cemented the center top, then the rocker panel edge. With the clothespins holding the outer edge in place it was all lined up and glued last. Can't be skimpy with the contact cement either, I was putting it on thick by the time I did the second one.
