Default 1933/34 rumble seat mats.

A question on 1933/34 rumble seat mats.
Are they fixed in place? if so do they use the same clips as the front floor mat? and is there an insulation material between the mat and the floor panel?
Thanks
Graham

Graham, well Im not really sure but I thought that the rubber mat on the rumble floor just sits there with no attachments. Some cars had no floor covering at all, on standard models. Just my opinion and may not be fact. Regards, Kevin.

Graham,

Below is a page from one of the 1934 Ford of Canada Service Bulletins showing the mat and carpet fasteners and their location on the floors of the various body types. Surprisingly, the cabriolet isn't listed, nor are rumble compartment mats for the coupes, but since the floor pans are all the same, the fasteners for the phaeton rear mat should serve your purposes except for numbers 6,7, and 8 on the perimeters of the floor as a rumble mat does not extend that far.

Originally there was a jute backing glued to the underside of the mat, but that proved to be a bad idea with the passage of time as it would retain water and never really dry out thereby hastening the formation of rust in the floor pan.

Thanks David,
I knew I had seen that diagram somewhere and was able to find it in my Canadian Bulletins.
A lot of information in the Canadian Bulletins that is not in the US ones.
Shame there is no mention of Cabriolet.

Graham,

That tendency for additional useful information extends to the Ford of Canada parts catalogs as well, especially the body parts catalogs.
