Re: How to ship heavy OEM parts
Good job Bob. Your crate looks stronger than the one my Mitchell was shipped in and it arrived safely (but notice a couple of 2x6 braces are broken). Of course it didn't go overseas either.

Re: How to ship heavy OEM parts
They must have read my mind. Notice the 1/2 inch plywood at each end, and no glue!

Re: How to ship heavy OEM parts
when living in Florida I sold a multi-disc clutch & transmission to a guy in California.
built a box from 3/4" plywood and he gave me permission to cut off the shift lever so the box was smaller....... I'm sure Mitchell has developed their shipping boxes to be adequately strong but still as light as possible. Also certain they would make good on any damage, they are great people to do business with......

I was ONLY making reference to their shipping box to show Bob I believe his box was more than adequate to do the job and he built his along the same lines. The Mitchell is much heavier than Bob's axles and came thru with no damage. |
