1934 Pickup Bed end rail
Hi, I am replacing the end rail on my 34 pickup. I have drilled out the rivets and removed the rail. Looking at the tight areas like inside the stake pocket, how does one put the rivets back? There is at best 2" clearance inside the pocket. I can't see how a bucking bar or other instrument could get inside and do anything. Obviously I am missing something.
Has anyone used something besides rivets? Carriage bolts might work if I can make good square holes? I saw threaded buttons for lack of a better term. These are not frame fasteners so the mechanical aspect is not as important. That said, I still would like to have rivets. Thanks, Al K. |

Continuing this question, I attached a photo with my questions. How would you install the rivets?

I used bolts, but mine is not a restoration, its just an old truck.

Carriage bolts with the markings ground off the heads.
