Default T roadster Q.

Q...for those who have a good knowledge od T roadsters;
Is there a noticeable passenger area size difference between the ‘24/‘25 T and the ‘26/‘27 T ?

Im searching for T roadster for a project. Never having a T roadster, I’m seeking your help to narrow my search.

It has been said that the ‘24/‘25 is real small in seating area vs later model.
Also, if you have pictures of either or both such T roadsters , Please post here.

Yes there is a difference. The 26/27 is wider.

Hey ronn,
Duly noted, thanks !
Ive located one in storage.
No pictures yet, but your info will come into consideration if ‘26/‘27 !
Im hoping its not the smaller ‘25. However, suspect it is. The NEW owner has taken the Built Hot T engine, warford trans and Ruxtal rear end....WHY ? Too small cab ??
We’ll see.

Although a 26-27 is wider, it is harder to get into than a 1925 or earlier. The problem with the 26-27 roadsters (and tourings) is the cowl is much deeper (longer-front to rear) which severely cuts into the cockpit area. There is also a gas tank under the cowl which doesn't help the space situation either. Also, the distance between the top of the seat to the bottom of the floor is shorter on the 26-27s, so, if you are long legged, it is really uncomfortable. You sit much lower in a 26-27 which is not good for vertical leg room.

While the 1925 and earlier cars are narrower, you sit like you would in a normal chair, meaning, your legs don't have to spread forward and get tucked under the cowl.

I have had both and since I am nearly 6 foot tall, the 1925 and earlier cars are much, much more comfortable and much easier to get in and out of.

(Hope this description makes sense!)

Hey gz,
THANKS !
This is exactly the information I’m seeking , great help !
Another Q for your help, please....
Is the stock T Frame sufficient (safe) to handle increased HP ? Or, in you experience, is it necessary to change to custom frame ? I know, lot of variables, but HP increase from hot B type banger is involved.
Any advice will be helpful.

I would just go with a Model A frame. The T frame is designed to twist and turn and does not have a center crossmember of any type. It works great with a Model T engine and trans assembly, but not for anything else.

Guys put pretty hot engines in T's using stock frame, BUT you still only have rear brakes. Some do add front brakes but a bit of work to retro fit. The T springs are narrower then A if that has crossed your mind doing a swap. If you want the T body style, setting it on an A frame would be the way to go, gets the extra crossmember and can be retro fitted with juice brakes.

Ok, the A frame is better ! Im familiar with A frame.
Regarding... More HP on a at frame....dont want get be guessing if will hold up. And no center cross member is good to know.

I had a hot 265 chev in an A frame, that should have been boxed / strengthened in some manner. It wasn’t and was torn apart. So lesson learned.
