Default v8-60 oil pressure

Got the little 60 humming along but when it started today - no oil pressure. It had been rebuilt and was doing fine.

Any suggestions? Thanks,

My V8-60hp starts with about 60 psi. After warming up it maintains about 25 lbs at cruising speed. At idle, warm not much pressure. Maybe 5 lbs. I use Royal Purple 20/50. I have several thousand miles on the engine now.
It does not burn/use any oil between oil changes. I think if you can get any pressure you are ok.

The 60 that the 39 I drove kept 15 at slow idle after a couple hour run at 70mph, it was rebuilt with all NOS parts---10-30, or 10-40 oil ---this engine had a nos oil pump/front cap, the only used parts was the block, manifolds and heads

A friend has one he picked up at auction, it was used to drive a belt for powering equipment, still had the trans attached. Anyway we got it running and could only get about 5 lbs oil pressure out of it. We were worried it wasn't pumping till we took the gauge off and started it and had oil pumping out of the galley.

Those 60's have small oil pumps with small gears just like a 8N-9N tractor that are attached to the front main cap. If you've got any pressure I wouldn't worry about it. Walt

Mine usually starts with about 20 lbs and warms up to about 5 lbs at idle. Happy with it. Marvin, ct

Well OK, I guess. Before the cooling system and exhaust when I could only run it for a few seconds it had 50 pounds at about 1,000. Now it is about 5 at maybe 500 rpm so we'll just go with it.

I'm using non-detergent 30 wt so everything should be good.

The help on this site is always much appreciated and very helpful. Thanks.
