Re: AA bellhousing
Hi, The AA belhousing is about 2-1/2" less deep than the std. A unit but does not have the pedal shaft hole since it was a bracket on the 4 speed AA tranny. I am also doing the conversion to the 4 speed O/D 1987 F-150 Tranny & the pedal shaft must be fabricated into the bellhousing to reposition it in the same location that the original A shaft was. If you e-mail me I can send you the complete instructions & modifacation needed, (COURTESY OF AL, IN NEW YORK) who took the time to document the proceedure, item by item with photos. Good luck, Joe

Yes, they are the same. The Throw-Out Collar is shorter (2"???) than the A.

Re: AA bellhousing
If you are intersted there is a site, you can google for the address, Mac's Speed Equipment in New Zealand that makes a new cast aluminum bell housing with the pedal shaft already in in. It is made to mate the model A to a Tremec F-150 4 speed O/D tranny. It is about $400. plus shipping. Looks like the cats meow! Irt also uses the trannys reg bolt pattern so you don't have to tear down the tranny & drill & tap the casing for bolt holes and also won't have to have front input shaft cut down & front bearing retaner casting turned down to fit the bell housing. Re: AA bellhousing
Roddyb34, if you are refering to the shaft that supports the Throwout Fork, yes it is the same as the standard Model A and tne new shafts are available at all Vendors. The lever on the end of that shaft is also the same as standard Model A. The AA Throwout bearing Collars (the thingee that the Throwout bearing is mounted on) are hard to find, BUT, the V-8 one will work and is even a betterchoice. The return spring works better. I have been putting new bushings and a new shaft into one today.
