She assured us that they were not closing (plan to be open Fri.Sat.&Sun.) so last week we told her we would try Fridays for awhile after the New Year. Come on up with the new coupe.

How often do you meet and for how long and on what day of the week
What topics do you discuss
Where do you meet

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Hi Marshall:
The Lone Star Model A Ford Club of Georgetown, TX (30 miles north of Austin) meets for breakfast every Saturday morning and has for almost 20 years. I founded the club in late September 1993 and we began the Saturday breakfasts the following week (early October 1993).

On May 3, 2003 the Mayor of Georgetown proclaimed that day, "Lone Star Model A Ford Club Day" in Georgetown in recognition of our club's 500th consecutive weekly breakfast. Two weeks ago, December 1, 2012, we held our 1,000th weekly breakfast and U.S. Congressman John R. Carter (R-TX) read a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives congratulating our club on reaching the milestone of 1,000 weekly breakfasts. Here's a link to his speech entered into the Congressional Record:

We meet every Saturday morning at 7:30 am at the IHOP in Georgetown; they have a private meeting room in the back which is reserved for us. Normally we have 30-40 members present (more if we have a Model A tour planned for that day since we leave for the tour immediately after eating). Our 1,000th weekly breakfast had 55 members attending and everyone received a pinback button for their club vests proclaiming, "I had a GRAND time at our 1,000th weekly breakfast."

This event has become such a part of our member's lives that one year New Year's Day fell on a Saturday and about five of our guys showed up at the restaurant and found the door locked - they commented, "Don't they know we eat together EVERY Saturday morning? How dare them close on a Saturday!" They found another restaurant that was open that day and kept the string alive.

The IHOP even puts out our very own coffee mugs with our club logo on it for everyone to use - we had some made for our club's 10th anniversary and gave the extras to IHOP. They even permit us to put a plaque in their entry with our club logo saying we meet there every Saturday morning - it's right next to the Rotary Club plaque. Our personal waitress has waited on us so long that she just greets most of us with, "Morning Bill, the usual?" and she knows what to bring!

I encourage all Model A Clubs to start this tradition - it's truly a great way to get to know each other better and builds great friendships!

Maybe twenty or so "Car Guys" to include Corvette, Early V-8, Model A, and Street Rodders meet Wednesday Morning for breakfast and to solve each other's mechanical problems at a BAGEL BOSS on Long Island.
Each Friday night about twenty fellow Model A'ers meet with their spouses, sitting boys on one table, for dinner. We also celebrate birthdays and Christmas, etc.
