Default Is the 32-39 light switch same as model A

Tired of fighting the repo 34 light switch I got. If it is the same as a Model A I can probably find a useable original. Thanks, Phil

I BELIEVE they are different, but someone will chime in with a for sure answer. I again BELIEVE I have a used genuine one, but I'll have to check and be sure. Gimme a day or two to check it out. LOL

Some of the later light switch assemblies are different from the Model A,
The model A light switch will turn 3 positions, side lights, headlight low beam and headlight high beam.
The later switches only turn 2 positions, side lights and headlights, because they have a seperately mounted floor operated dip switch.

Interesting about the Model A vs. '32 and above. I forgot about the foot stitch high beam set up.

The light switch itself is the same 1928-37, but can be use in 38-39's as well. The 38-37 is a three position switch whereas the 38-39 is a two. The outer cover is has three different variations that do not affect function. What issue are you fighting? There are three manufacturers of the light switch. Two work and one is poopy. The poor quality one is usually Gold Zinc plated.

Well, as luck would have I have the "gold" one. Like you say it is poopy. When I finally get it together I can't get the contracts turn. I will be able to come up with a usable original one off a Model A. This is my first 34 build wasn't sure the were the same. Thanks, Phil

I usually take a file and smooth the brass buttons down to be flush with the plastic. you will still have the detente left, and they turn nice and smooth
