Re: Cheap Reproduction Hubcaps - to avoid Licence Fees
As I recall from my youth, '49 Chevys had a red field around the bow tie on hub caps and red in the hood and trunk ornaments. That was changed to gold in '50.

This is the colour that all American built 1954 Fords used on their Dog Dish Hubcaps. As mentioned earlier, Black paint was used on all Australian built 1954 Fords. |

Re: Cheap Reproduction Hubcaps - to avoid Licence Fees
1953 and 1954 Ford Dog Dish Hubcaps compared. While the FORD Letters are the identical for both years, note that on the 1954 model, Ford added a distinct Ridge to contain the paint. Try painting a 1953 Ford Hubcap to look like a 54 model. I think that the you would have a big job to make the painted area completely circular. |

Compare this Genuine 1956 Mercury Spinner Hubcap with the cheap, nasty Repro example shown above. No comparison. |

If anyone has any nasty old Duvall 'swirl' caps to get rid of, let me know. I'm happy to help out.
