Default 4 cylinder motors

I've been a hotrodder for 50 years but have never done a 4 cylinder except for building a deuce roadster back in the early 70's with a Merc marine 4 cylinder. I am exploring doing another deuce roadster with a 32/34 4 cylinder, 39 transmission, quick change rear. I have no idea where to start as to the motor and hooking the 39 box to the 4 cylinder. So far sources for this install are sparse and this looks like it could get expensive? I have the trans and will be building my own chassis but have no idea where to find a motor without getting screwed. Any suggestions?
