Fire at Jerry's
'Barners,
A lot of you know Jerry Vincentini and the fine collection of vehicles, motorcycles & toys he has collected. The unthinkable happened to him this past Friday (13th). He received a call from his security provider late Friday or early Saturday stating that there was something going on at his residence in Nebraska. Jerry spends the winter months in Fountain Hills (Phoenix), AZ. He told them to send authorities to check it out. Well, by the time they arrived, flames were shooting 20' through the roof of his garage/clubhouse. Jerry has a hard wired security system along with hard wired smoke detectors etc. The fire appears to have started around the electric box and the wires were destroyed before the smoke/fire alarms could activate. Attached are some pictures Jerry shared with me. It appears that he lost 2 vehicles ('34 Ford Cabriolet & '94 Mustang Indy Pace car with only 32 miles on it!). He also lost several antique motorcycles and antique toys. There were also over 20 classic cars in another room which suffured a tremendous amount of smoke damage. Please keep Jerry in your thoughts & prayers! Regards, Pat |

Re: Fire at Jerry's
What a shame!! Hopefully, insurance will help cover most of his losses. Glad to hear no human life was lost. Material things can be replaced.

Re: Fire at Jerry's
I wonder if his security system had one of the lithium sulphur dioxide batterys or other similar types that like to catch fire sometimes. That would suck having your security system be the cause of your insecurity.

Re: Fire at Jerry's
That's a fear that we all share. It sure is a shame to see the damage. Thankfully no one was hurt, like Barry said, material things can be replaced.

Always sucks to hear about fires, that's my worst fear. Hope all works out for him. And as a side note, that cabriolet looks rebuildable.

Re: Fire at Jerry's
It looks like the '34 Cabriolet can be salvaged. I've seen worse, restored.
What a damn shame ! MIKE |

Re: Fire at Jerry's
Although one can be compensated possibly financially thru insurance, doesn't even come close to the loss of a collection like that. It's just so disheartening.

Re: Fire at Jerry's
Looks like years of collecting, insurance can not replace many of the items not to mention the memories. Sorry to see that happen to you or anybody.

Re: Fire at Jerry's
richard Crow had good advice for everyone that has an investment they want to protect. My son has been a fireman and he said that they never had a bad fire in a building that had a sprinkler system. It's something to think about. They may be expensive, but they do work.

Re: Fire at Jerry's
'Barners,
I just received a call from Jerry. As you can imagine, he has been very busy with everything that needs to be done following a fire such as this. He and Connie feel very blessed to have the many friends they have. He wanted me to pass along their heartfelt thanks for your kind words and thoughts. Regards, Pat |
