friction shock absorbers, current maker
Does anyone know the phone number or email address of the man who makes a friction (scissor type) shock for a model T? I think his name is Townsend and he is located in Ohio but I am not sure. I would like to buy some parts from him. Thanks MIke Neeley Dallas Ft. Worth Model T Ford Club |

Re: friction shock absorbers, current maker
Mike, I am not aware of a friction shock maker in Ohio but there used to be one in Central Point, OR that made beautiful reproductions of Hartford shocks. The machine shop owner, Jay Shaffer, is now retired, but he still had some parts in stock last year. You can contact him at (503)855-7509. I have a set of his shocks mounted on my T sprint car. You can check them out at the link below. <ul>[*]Hartford repro shocks[/list] |

Re: friction shock absorbers, make your own
The 5-volume series of speedster building books by Humble Howard Genrich and Jim Cullinane has a section on how to build your own in volume 1. These books are advertised in Vintage Ford and Secrets of Speed magazines. |
