Help finding door handle escutcheon
Hello All and to begin, best wishes for 2014!
I have been restoring an early 1931 Fordor DeLuxe for the last 3 years (tore it down to the last nail) and have reached the point where the rebuilding is nearing its completion. I have tried to salvage as much as possible of the original parts as I don't want the car to "lose its soul". I am missing a deluxe escutcheon for the door handle. The originals were nickel plated and this is what I am looking for. Does anyone out there have an old one laying around for this car model? It doesn't matter if it is dirty as it can be polished up and thus regain the beautifull yellowish luster. The ones I have found from known retailers don't cut the mold. Greetings from Sweden; Eskil |

posting a photo of what you need will help find your part, more than anything.

Re: Help finding door handle escutcheon
De Luxe inside door handle escutcheon. This is a picture from a known company. This is what it looks like with one end deeper than the other (the one on the picture is reproduction, not nikel plated). Note, it's the one for the door handle. (Thanks Davehc but those are for the window riser). My car is a straight window, model 170B

Re: Help finding door handle escutcheon
It's important to note that Fordor and Cabriolet (Briggs and Murray bodies) do NOT use the same escutcheons as Ford bodied cars. Unfortunately few if any vendors are aware of that fact so most car owners don't either.
I never heard of Fordor escutcheons being reproduced but they obviously were (at least briefly) as I ended up with a set from somewhere. I have no idea how old they are. The original Fordor example is well used. My Coupe/Tudor original is unused and shows the original butler finish. Also note that repros vary in quality as shown at the bottom.

Re: Help finding door handle escutcheon
Marco, Both of the deluxe inside door handle escutcheons(for the Ford bodied cars and for the Briggs and Murray bodies) are being made now, in the nickle finish as they should be as well as both window riser escutcheons in nickle. Made in the USA and very nice. About $5 each.
