The number you gave is not a VIN (serial number) for a 1934 Ford pick up. Check it again. It should take the format star 18 followed by 6 or 7 digits and then another star. If it was a 4 cylinder the "18" would be a "B". Check the number again and post what you find. It is on the top of the left frame rail near the steering box.

Where do you find the number on the truck? Maybe it is a number assigned by one of the DMV organizations? Do you have any pictures you could post?

This is a mystery number, note.. old vins are not coded like new vins. Old vins are just a sequence of production number, other than establish year and month of manufacture, they wont tell you much of anything about your vehicle .

The 5,456,341 is only a little off here...we need to see stamping and how clear it is.
A badly stamped B could account for the F...second digit should be 2 or 3 for 1934.
So...is this from a stamping?? Is stamping clear or not? Are characters stamped in Ford style? are there stars?

The 4 is only a little high...it is not inconceivable that there could be a diamond or British B engine/trans numbered so.

I'm just thinking it's odd that number is so large and so close to proper if it is a state assigned serial. State numbers are usually pretty short.

In 1934 canadian four cyc vehicles had america serial numbers. The chassis were canadian. if it is a candian vehicle the number is close as bruce mentioned. F was only used on right hand drive vehicles

I know this is an old thread but it helped me out tremendously. My 34 5W must be sitting on a 4 Cylinder frame. Frame S/N is *B52XXXXX*

Fifty plus years ago cars/trucks were just a means to get to and from a given point, transporting people and/or tools and equipment if the vehicle was a truck/commercial car.
I personally know of several vehicles that were re-bodied do to accidents. My cousin re-bodied his wrecked '36 Ford 5 win cpe in 1947 with a 3 win body that he bought from a wrecking yard. Of course nobody but a hand full of his close friends and a few relatives had no idea the '36 was re-bodied..
Since the serial number on a Early Ford don't mean anything, how was anyone to know that the car had been re-bodied.
