Default Source for 6v turn signal flasher

All,

I recently installed turn signals on the 41. I'm running 6v positive earth. I used a 6v motorcycle flasher can and now it is flashing erratically when working.

This makes me think I'm using the wrong type of flasher.

What say you, and where can I source a correct replacement?

Thanks in advance for your assistance

you need a 6v 3 prong flasher. I got mine from Macs (now Ecklers) C&G or any of the v8 parts store will have them. I imagine your local auto sparky might even have them or auto electrical outlet. If you installed LEDS you need a special 6v flasher... you can't use the normal "tin can" type. Check your earth too. Most of those aftermarket turn signal switches are earthed through the clamp to the steering column. It usually means scraping some paint off it. It may be just a crook earth.

Many thanks gents,

I checked the earth on the flasher I have (it's a separate lead), and no luck...

I have ordered some replacements.

Add some resistance like a bulb under the dash even 12 v,that should slow the flashing down

The flasher is very erratic. It flashes at a regular cadence, then goes into disco mode for a bit, then remembers where it is and settles down.

Maybe it's a safety feature!
