1949 ford f1 front brake drums
I heard a rumour that rear brake drums from a 1986 Ford F-150 are a replacement for my 1949 front drums. Anyone else try this

Why not take your old drum to the local parts store and compare it to the later Ford drum? Then you will know for sure if they interchange.

Yes, they are what I use. The difference is they are more squared off vs the more dished shape of f1 drums. This leaves about a 1/2 inch or so of extra drum (the drum brake surface is wider than the shoes).
