Default 1931 model A engine

Thinking of buying a 31 roadster with 2 engines that go with it. One is original that ran when they took it out, the other is rebuilt. Do not need either engine. I have one. Approximately what are they worth? I know, what ever you can get.

It will make a nice rod.

Market for NEW rebuilt engines about $3200. Selling it as you are (i.e. no documentation of the rebuild, no warranty from the rebuilder, possibly a paint rebuild) expect about half of that.

Many rebuild an engine as a "spare." Typically the spare is of no value to selling the car and this spare engine is typically $1400 for the same reason.

The take-out original engine that ran perhaps $300. Its value is basically as a "core" for rebuilding. A reputation of "running" may be of some value. Were it non-running but complete I would say $100 or even $75 And "parts" perhaps $40 for the block and moving internals. (you buy oil pans, oil pumps, pistons, rods and other sundries necessary to bring it to the first condition of original take out and you're talking close to $300 - I know as this is exactly where I am at with a local Craigslist engine.)

Good luck with your rod. Advice would be to buy a prepared boxed frame rather than try to box an original frame.
