Good brakes...we all should have them.
In 2007 I redid the brakes on the coupe. I took my time to assure everything was done correctly spending money as needed for new drums, backing plates, rods, shoes, clevises and pins, etc... I made sure everything was tight doing and redoing until I felt good about it all.
It paid off tonight when the kid on the bike swerved in front of me. I was doing about 25 having just shifted from 2nd to 3rd when he shot off the sidewalk into the grass and onto the street. All 4 wheels locked and while it knocked him down, the car stopped and I was able to avoid running over him. He has a skinned elbow and a bad stain on his bike seat... Make sure your brakes are good folks! |

Wow! I am sure that I would not want to come that close.
It speaks very well for your wisdom in going with cast iron drums. They now don't owe you a cent. I have done the same on my Coupe and find the limiting factor is now the adhesion of the tires to the pavement. Gar Williams |
