Default GMI horn assembly

I've been restoring my dad's '30 model A, which has been in pieces for 35+ years. I had no problems restoring and rebuilding anything until i came to the horn. I believe the horn that we have is a GMI model as the brushes are mounted perpendicular to the frame. Ive looked in all my restorer books, service guides, restorers club magazines and scowered the internet and I have yet to find anything that takes about how the horn is assembled. I have a general idea but I still havent figured out how to keep the brushes in place on this particular horn, or how to connect the wires to them. ANy help would be appreciated.

I have a GMI horn. Would a photo of the mounted brushes help?

Horn Connections: Vol 1 - Technically Speaking
The Voice of the Model A: Vol 3 - Technically Speaking (covers all five horns)
BTW, congratualations on owning a GMI.
I took some close-ups of the vertically opposed brush mounts, which is different from the other four makes. Hope they help.

Congratulations on owning one of the lesser-known makes of Model A Horns. The distinguishing feature of the GMI horn is the mounting of the brushes. The small cotter pin (you can see it in HoarseWhisperer's excellent pictures) holds the brushes and springs in place. Pull that pin and the brush assembly should come out along with the pieces that are soldered to the wires. The GMI horn, in my opinion has a very healthy sound. I know that there shouldn't be any difference, but the one that I have (found it at Hershey '09) says AH-OOH-GAH!! while some of the others just ah-ooh-gah.
