Default Cad Plating Companies...

As most of us know, there are not many cad plating companies left around the USA due to the EPA rules on toxic materials and their disposal.

It seems like there are a lot of newbies coming aboard not only restoring Model A Fords but other vehicles as well.

If you know of a cad plating dealer in your neighborhood, please let the rest of us know and the quality of cad that was done for your show car or otherwise.

I have found one in Hayward, CA: Electro Plating Specialties: 510-786-1881; and one in Colorado for which I have lost the information on.

There is going to come a time when you will need one...hopefully we can come up with a decent list.

Thanks.

Pluck

Pluck:

One way to locate the "best" cad plating shop in your area is to go to the local aircraft propellor overhaul shop. They have to have propellor parts plated and baked and should be able to advise a person where to go. That is how I found Arlington Plating in Palatine, Illinois. I send almost all of my Model A hardware out for silver cad plate.

Steve...we have one in Fresno, Commercial Electro Plating, 559-442-0790, talk to Fred. Aerocraft is correct, the heat treated parts need to be baked, do to hydrogen imbrittelment (can't find spell check)! Dudley
PS..not sure if they can do the WHITE-SILVER, I will have to check.

The easy way to find a cad plater is to use the Business to Business yellow pages. Or simply look on line. Google Cadmium Plating and a major city near you. If I Google my town of North Hills I find nothing. But if I Google Burbank, 10 minutes from here, I find lots.

In Bridgeport, CT, there is Reliable Plating. I asked if they still do cad and they said that they do. I haven't used them to do anything.

No connection to them, except that my mechanic's wife's family owns it.

Danbury Plating i had Black Oxydized [raven finish] . Nice job and fast turnaround.Does Niclel and chrome plating too but no cad. I had a place near the Mass./Conn. border .In Conn. but they don't like car people ,TOO pickie ..but they do it for me because i pay $95.00 a tray and don't complain and extra if the part must be hung. And they have 3 types of cad. and alot more type of plating except Chrome. I believe the correct raven finish is Parkerizing.

Hello Steve,
The one in Colorado you lost contact with is probably Aero Propellor.
