Default Santa coming today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally I'll be able to put all what I've been reading and learning about to practical use.....................Sarah should be here mid-afternoon. Time enough to shower and shave and get the garage heated up.

YIP!!!!!!! the very same Santa, the same one who's life I saved on Christmas Eve 1968 in Nam, when he was shot out of the sky delivering Sundry Boxes and care packages from home. I was on perimeter guard and I broke from behind those sandbags, jumped the C-wire dashed through bullets and grenades and dragged his fat arse all the way back. Then I went back again and brought back the Sundry boxes and care packages from home. Then I went back and gave Rudolf first aid and then dragged him back after I punched out that red lighted nose of his.

So!!! Boys and girls and everyone here who enjoyed Santa for years after......now you know who saved Christmas from Charlie Cong, Christmas 1968.

I haven't been this excited since back in the 7th grade when Connie Stienacher pulled me into the broom closet and said....be gentle and that was 81 years ago!!!!

It's always great when at my age you're still around to scratch something else off your bucket list.

No dinner, for giving her a home, I'll be eating thin sliced bologna sandwiches for a long while.

Sarah has arrived.....................

and I have questions already. A couple of things I've noticed.
1. The ignition key does go into the door handle lock but will not lock. It will not go in the rumble seat handle lock at all. I guess maybe the door handles have been switched out somewhere along the line???? Correct????

2. I noticed a few drips of gas from the carb, about a drip every 50 seconds and it eventually stopped. I noticed gas around the gas line at the brass nut into the carb. Have read those are easy to strip out. Also maybe from the choke nut.

This was all after it was turned off. It started about ten minutes later..............

Thanks...it's closed up for the winter now. In front it's 1930s pre-war and in the back it's late 40s-50s. I always had a thing for Texaco.

There are a few other As in the county and I hope to have a static display next Oct during the county's annual Quilt Barn Tour.

Cokes, Cracker Jacks and Moon Pies for visitors....should be a hoot!!!!!

The items you found are minor fixes. First thing is the gas leak. always run the carb dry on shutdown. The carb has an issue. Best to find a local model a person to walk you thru trouble shooting the carb. beautiful car. drive it.

And be very careful lighting off the kerosene heater until you get the leak stopped.

Most assuredly.....I turn the gas line off a few minutes after I turned the motor off so what dripped out must have been what was left in the line and the carb. Still not right. I think it was dripping around the drain plug also. I've been reading my $295.95 mechanics book about carbs. Could be a number of things.

Cal Allen in Chandler Arizona still restores original door handles, and rekeys them and deck lid/rumble handles. Should be a key number on the shaft of the keyed handles.
A & L will cut keys.
If it was me I would use the originals.
I looked for Cal's phone Number, maybe someone can supply it. I will do some more looking.

The only county in Illinois with no RR tracks, where we pump sunshine in and moonshine out, where the only way in is by one bridge and three ferries and that's when we're not flooded by both the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers. Where we have one gas station and two country stores and a Subway. God's country....Calhoun County.

BTW...the one bridge is a lift bridge and it's the longest single span lift bridge in the world, it's our pathway to fame unless you want to include Billy Bob Teeth which are made here.

A good project for this weekend.....not being able to lock it is a concern of mine. Not right now but I like to be prepared in advance. Thanks...........

I would recommend turning off the fuel line and let the engine run the carb out of fuel.
no more to drip.
Like your style and Great looking car.
