Default Rear Hub bearing and outer race replacement

When you order a replacement rear wheel bearing and outer race,
what is the loctite adhesive for?

Thinking that you are referring to the repair race and bearing that goes into the rear hub, the locktite is used to lock the new race into the hub. The instructions say to press the new race into the hub with a film of the loctite in the old hub and on the new race. On my hubs, I was able to push them in by hand. No press needed. The new races would be spinning in the old if it were not for the loctite.

I'm concerned that you use the term "Replacement". If your race in your hub is good, you should not be using the "Repair" setup.

thanks Russ,

so basically, I i must press the race into the hub, I probably won't need the loctite?
the parts catalog call it a repair kit, but I think the dimensions of the
replacement race are same as original. It's for pitted and worn bearing
surfaces.

The replacement race uses the smaller OD V-8 bearing. Use the locktight. The race made to rework the axle housing surface can be used with either bearing.

The original race, is the internal surface of the hub. There is no race installed in the original hub. It is the hub itself. By inserting the "repair race" you are essentially sleeving the worn original surface in the hub. Consequently, a smaller outside diameter bearing is required to fit in the smaller hole. You should only be using this arrangement if the internal surface of the hub is excessively worn or pitted.

Use the loctite!
