Default Valve Settings

With the head off my “A” to replace the head gasket, I decided to check valve rise above the block using a dial gauge
1 (E) .205
2 (I) .250
3 (I) .284
4 (E) .280
5 (E) .284
6. (I) .288
7 (I) .284
8 (E) .285

How does this look? Should I be adjusting piston #1 valve set? Thank you.

1 and 2 are not good the lobe of the cam must have failed. Drop the pan and give it a look.

Are you checking valve rise above the block, or are you checking actual valve lift? Something needs attention because if you are checking valve lift and the valve clearance is OK, then it looks like you have worn cam lobes on #1.

What is the valve clearance for each of the 8 valves?

The measurement is for valve lift. Original valve settings were to be 0.13 for all valves. I haven't removed the valve cover but will do now. Thanks

You can add the valve clearance to the valve lift to get the cam lobe dimension. Just use a magnetic base and dial indicator on top of the valve if you have the head off.
