Default Zmax?

Can you use zmax in a model a. I know it's supposed to be absorbed by engines and the a engine is very porous. Would it work? Has anyone tried it?

I have never heard of that product. Do you have a link to a product description?

Clean and proper weight motor oil will do a better job than any of those additives. I don't believe half the claims they make.

zMax is a brand name, and they make several aditives for fuel and oil. I have seen it advertized by Carrol Shellby on TV. Just Google "zmax" and you can learn all about it.

That is an interesting question if zMax would be a benefit to the Model a engine. I personally use toady's modern detergent oil in my A engine, the oil and their additives (IMHO) are better refined than those from the early party of the 20th century. Maybe we will see some infor from a zMax user.

I put some in at the last oil change to get some Zinc into the mixture. It would take a carefully controlled trial to determine if it really helps. There is a company making a Zinc heavy oil (can't remember who) that claim the additives are a waste, and you need the Zinc rich oil.

My only thought is; comparing today’s modern high RPM engines with the Model A engine is a real stretch. Much lower compression, much, much lower RPMs.

With that said, what great benefit would it achieve by adding very expensive oil additive to a Model A engine? I prefer to spend my $$ and use a top quality lubricant and be vigilant about changing the oil. I might add, I do not use an oil filter.

My bottom line is I subscribe to the K.I.S.S. principle of keep it simple. Therefore one may do as he things best but the Cost/Benefit of ZMax doesn’t add up in a Model A , (IMHO)
