Default How can you tell the difference between 29 Phaeton and Phaeton deluxe?

Looking at Pop's car and seems like alot of things were put on to make it look like an model A, but alot of parts don't jive.

It has rear mount spare, but looking at rigth side Cowl, looks like three holes mounted for Spare tire there. The Fendor doesn't have a well to hold the spare, just looks like a spare tire mount.

Because this looks like it's been piece mealed, so wanted to know if there is any way to tell if it should have been a Phaeton, or a Phaenton Deluxe.

It is very easy to tell a standard 29 phaeton from a deluxe 29 phaeton because there were no 1929 deluxe phaetons manufactured. Some people had side mounts and cowl light installed after production. These phaetons with side mount(s), cowl lights and any other extras were just dolled up standard phaetons.

Those holes may have been for a car radio antenna or some kind of cowl light. You can hold a piece of copper plate on the backside and weld then shut if you want.

Some dealerships in swanky neighborhoods apparently sold spiffed-up looking open Model As. Dual side-mounted spares and cowl lights, etc. were sometimes seen in the pictures of A roadsters and phaetons from car showrooms in 1928 and 1929. Somewhere I have a book that show several of these. Probably the car dealers made the changes to standard phaetons or roadsters, however. They definately look deluxe.
