Default More Legroom in 28/29 Briggs Fordor

I’ve seen a lot of people asking how to move the Front Seat back in a 28/29 Briggs Fordor. Since I was installing my headliner and without the front seat would be easier so I figured I’d kill two birds with one stone. I managed to move it back 1” by cutting down the seat side posts 1” and nailing the back of the seat cradle 1” back which puts it at the rear edge of the bottom board. I couldn’t see how I could go any more than the 1” but it did help me getting in and out with my size 13 feet and all. Come spring I’ll update on the driving part.

Didn't all the Briggs 4 doors have an adjustable front seat? I know my 29 Town Sedan did.

The '28 did not. Seat was fixed in place and metal bracket from side of seat to sides of door. Would liked to have done this when I rebuilt my fordor

Yes. This would be hard to do once the upholstery is done.

Here’s a couple more pictures showing the base of the seat cradle back. Before and after 1” back.

I moved mine a considerable ways back. Can't remember now exactly how much. I made a double L bracket for the seat sides, then covered them with fabric. The seat base I just pulled the screws out that go down into the floor, moved the seat base back and ran the screws down into the floor in their new location. Not difficult. My shifter was too close too, so I stopped along the road and grabbed it in both hands and bent it to where it was out of the way. I was irritated because I'd just had a close call because my big feet had gotten tangled up in the lack of space.
