Great job David! I can agree you’ve had it in the hands of two excellent paint and body guys. A recent repair to my 33 is a testimony to that!

The car looks decent in the Old Car Weekly article and the other photos in the auction catalog plus knowing Harry led me to bid on the car in the auction. It is amazing what red or gray primer can conceal. The floor had been crudely replaced with another floor not worth the trip and in the process much damage was done to the sills. The rumble lid could not be saved. The chassis frame was rusted through in the typical fashion on the right side where the X member joins the side rail in the rear. Very little of the wood in the cowl, doors, and quarters could be saved. The dash was heavily modified and a challenge to save. The alleged NOS running boards were weathered to the point of needing to be recovered.



The hood and fenders were likely not original to the car and they were all saveable.


I did not inspect the car personally before the auction, but relied on the photos and Harry's reputation. For someone in the hobby for as long as I have been, it was foolhardy. I am reasonably certain that Harry was unaware of just how flawed the basic body and frame were.



Robert, It was originally a deluxe model; the holes for cowl lamps had been filled.

That was good looking '32 Tudor in the auction. I hope it turned out to be just that or better.

Short answer is the '32 tudor body is one of the cleanest, rust free, and straight original '32 body's I've had the privilege to run across.

Longer version for those interested. David, I'm sure you're aware D Duncan purchased the sedan at Harry's auction. In typical fashion it was brought home and completely dismantled. When I first saw the car it was only the tudor body sitting on sawhorses in a garage overly packed full of '32 cars and parts. Fast forward a bit and I was offered the opportunity to purchase items from Don's collection. While I can't say it was under the best of circumstances, I can say that in talking with Don he was happy the car ended up in my hands.
