57 Ford ball joints
Instead of using the off shore bubble gum junk, I'm told that some later year Ford ball joints fit the 57 Fords with a very slight modification. Does anyone have some information on this like what year ball joints and what is the modification?? Thanks for any and all replies. Jay

Re: 57 Ford ball joints
PST has a pretty good assortment of parts for the '57. Check newer years to see what is common between them. From my experience, lots of front end parts were common through 1964. Moog makes one ball joint, forget which one.. either the upper or lower.

Re: 57 Ford ball joints
I got most of my front end parts elsewhere... questionable quality. Some made in India as well. My OG Ford castle nuts were better than the ones I was supplied with and reused them.

Re: 57 Ford ball joints
These older Fords had very sturdy ball joints always do a good lube before you check play in your old ones.

Re: 57 Ford ball joints
the bottom ball joints usually went when you got close to 100.000.i remember driving a 61 merc and down she went at about 60mph rubber burning and wore the side of the tire to the canvas.the worst part was they were riveted on.i spent 2 hours at the side of the road with a dull chisel and hammer.

Re: 57 Ford ball joints
The sad part is that anything you buy now is probably import junk.

Re: 57 Ford ball joints
The good thing is that I don't need a set of upper ball joints for my 57 right now. My original ones are still nice and tight. I was just looking to see what would fit when I do need them. Seems like up to 64 Ford is pretty much a bolt in and the 65 up need slight massaging. Thanks for the comments. Jay
