If I had to guess, I'd say that's for a pickup. The passenger car is probably very different.

Pete, I based my statement on the fact that the diagram you supplied says : "1948-50". The pickups were basically the same over those years while the cars were not.

That diagram is different. I’m trying to determine if a bushing or whatever goes between the heater core and the fan housing.

I just took one that looks like the photo apart, and was surprised to find three 5-6” sections of rubber hose between the heater core and the sheetmetal housing. The hose looked like sections of heater hose. I suppose I’ll try to reinstall with fresh sections of hose to keep things from rattling and rubbing, or come up with something more effective.

Interesting, I was going to use heater hose as bushing. I found the square spacer which traps the core when the cover is installed. If I took photos could have avoided the problem when assembling. Thanks for your help
