steering gear adjust
On my 40 the sector has a little play up and down in the pitman shaft will this cause a shimmy or not.And how do you adjust it Thanks

There is no adjustment for sector slop in a 40 box. The sector is positioned by a plate in slots at the top. The adjuster screw just moves the plate up or down. Slop is caused by wear. Parts will need to be replaced.

I guess it is cross shaft end play I need to adjust.Will this make a shimming at some speed or is my Coker tire bad.Been like this for years

If you think the cross shaft (or something is worn), jack up one side and grab the wheel and see how much play there is. If not noticeable, it may be just poor front end alignment. It could be the wheel bearings are loose. It could be the tie rod ends. You need to determine where the slop exists.
