'32 B Radiator

Can someone tell me what the width of a '32 4 cylinder radiator is? Is it the same width as a '32 v8 radiator?

Since they both use the same radiator the width has to be the same. I assume you didn't mean the thickness of the core? My V8 radiator measures 17 3/6 inches to the outside of the straps at the center. The same measurement at the top and at the bottom is 17 1/16 inch indicating a slight bow in the straps. Are these the measurements you need?

Both B & V8 rads are same width.The tanks are different,due to 2 & 4 outlets,and I think the V8 has a thicker core.I have a rad for a 33 B car & it has a thinner core than the V8.

Actually I was talking about the thinckness of the core. Is the thickness of the core different between the '32 B rad and the V8 rad?

I don't know for sure if mine have been recored over the years so any measurements would be worthless. Is there a specific reason you need this information that might lead to an alternate answer to the question?

Yes. The V8 core is 2 3/4" and 4 cyl core is approx 2 1/8".

I am guessing about where this question is coming from, but folklorically a converted B radiator is genearlly considered inadequate for a flathead.

I have a stock '31 4 cylinder and I want to use a '32 B radiator so I can run an original '32 grill shell. I have a '32 V8 radiator that I temporary mounted on the car so I could see what the shell looked like on the car. With the V8 radiator I noticed that the fan nut was touching the core so that's why I was wondering if the core of the B radiator was thinner and would allow for more clearance.

I think the B radiator is almost identical to A dimensionally except for the slightly relocated cap and the forward protuberence on the top tank. As with A and AA, there are B and BB's, with the heavy duty core mounting slightly forward and leaving a bigger gap at front of hood.
An A/B engine is in most ways longer than a flathead.
