59A Flywheel Ring Gear
Anyone else ever seen marks like this on the ring gear ? This is a first for me.

Are they some type of timing marks? You would think timing marks would be on the flywheel. My 60's Ford tractor has timing marks on the flywheel.

Maybe when it was balanced in the past? Did the pressure plate have a mark on it?

The white paint mark is a balance mark that matches the mark on the crankshaft flange. I’m referring to the marks on the ring gear. I’m wondering if someone in the past might have used a ring gear from a tractor.

Could it have been custom-marked by/for a cam builder for degreeing cams? It doesn't seem likely, as it wouldn't be in a very accessible location. Who knows?
