Default Hood arm & spring support

Do I need the small bracket that comes on one version of the spring support. The new ones I bought do not have the small bracket that attaches to the firewall.
I read where some 39 Ford Deluxes used that bracket and some didn't.

Thanks

Depends... does your car have the two holes in the pinch welded area of the cowl? If so, yeah, you need that small bracket.
Might I ask where you got your supports from?

Only the very early 39 deluxe cars were fitted with the support you describe.

I bought the spring supports from Bob Drake. I do have the 2 holes in the pinch welded area.
Guess I bought the wrong ones. I have the old springs and they didn't have the small brackets.
