'40 Ford speedometer head
The speedo head in the '40 has started to squawl. I removed the cable and cleaned and lubed it. Is there a secret lube to use in the head itself? I really don't want to spend big bucks on it but.................

Re: '40 Ford speedometer head
Somewhere in my stuff I have a new device that screws onto the back of a speedo head and it forces a measured amount of grease into the bushing in the rear that the drum spins on. I think it is a Stewart Warner tool. I will look for it and when I find it, post pictures of the thing.

Re: '40 Ford speedometer head
our 41 started to do the same thing. I removed the speedo and there is a small hole where the cable attaches the the head that has a "wick" in the hole . I lub'd the wick with light oil for a bit while turning the speedo with a battery drill and a square drive bit. solved the problem.
