Default 39 brake job done

After too long, I have finally finished the brake job on my 39 Deluxe sedan. Travel, work, cold weather and just about any other excuse caused this project to drag on for too long. I bled the brakes on Sunday and today took it down off the jack stands, torqued the rear axle nuts (to 200 ft. lbs) and took the car for a short drive around the neighborhood. It really runs well and now it stops pretty well. I will drive it around the neighborhood a bit more before I take it on a longer trip. I have not put the wheel covers back on, yet.

It's a mostly unrestored car with a rebuilt engine and just over 100k on the odometer, if it is to be trusted.

Congrats on your progress. Nice looking car.
Some advise to re-adjust the brakes again after some miles, after the shoes have had a chance to arc themselves into the contour of their drums.

JayChicago, I will certainly do that. One thing I picked up on my test drive is that I didn’t notice any pull during braking. Maybe I wasn’t going fast enough, but that encouraged me. I haven’t driven this car anywhere near as much as I should. I plan to change that this year.
