Default Ethanol ready fuel pump,

Wondering what needs to be done to make my 54 Lincoln fuel pump ethanol ready.
Also, my freshly rebuilt lyb will be sitting for a few more months before I get it ready to start. Should I be squirting oil or something in the cylinders while it sits?[QUOTE][

Do you have the original pump?

If it was mine, I would lightly spritz the cylinder walls/ring area with SeaFoam. Install spark plugs.

Also tape off the cyl head intake runners if no intake is mounted. Try not to turn the engine until first fire.

Good question on the fuel pump. If it is the original, I don't know of any of the repro parts suppliers who are offering rebuild kits for these. I recommend NOT getting an NOS kit as they are not ethanol friendly and the rubber parts are deteriorated by age. I also recommend not getting a new chinese made pump unless you plan to get a bypass fuel regulator and run a bypass line back to the tank.
Don't forget those Linc Y-blocks were factory engines in the old cabover engine trucks during the '50's, so maybe some old heavy duty Ford truck enthusiasts will know how to deal with the pump. And yes, people are restoring some of these today.
Ditto what KULTULZ said about taping up intake openings and pre-oiling cyl walls so they dont seize up with rust.

You may be able to get a rebuild kit from Lincoln Old Parts or you can have yours rebuilt so it's ethanol compatible. Arthur Gould in Mass. is one rebuilder that I have used. Been around a long time.

It's the original fuel pump/vacuum thing. I have an inquiry in to Lincoln old parts to make sure it's ethanol safe. It sure is hard finding parts for this car. Luckily I found a mechanic that has y block experience who rebuilt bottom end and heads for 2k. Labor. I supplied the parts. Cost me 1050 for pistons and rings. I have the distributor at another shop to swap the gear from my Lincoln to a distributor from a fyb, swapped out the shaft and oil pump.

Just wondering, does anyone read my posts or am I on IGNORE?

Whatever you do, do not sh!t-can that pump. Offer it for sale if you buy an off-shore.

I appreciate that but what I am trying to understand is I give a source and no one seems to pay attention to it ...

The BLUE PILLS, where did I put my BLUE PILLS?

Then and now prices seem pretty good. Better to have original and have the correct pressure.

Totally agree, as long as rebuild kit parts don't deviate from the original design pressure output.
