Yes we would love to see some photos, sorry I can't help with the numbers. I suspect that they might be peculiar to Australian built vehicles meaning that US equivalents may not be relevant.

The 01T Body Number would indicate that it is a 1940 model. For the 1942 Ford Ute, they were made by cutting down a Fordor Sedan. The Body Number for a 1942 Ute would start off 21-A-67. What do you mean by a 3 door Ute?
Please add some pictures so that we can determine what you have.

This is an original photo of a 1942 Ford Ute. These were made from Fordor Sedans. Ford Australia also made the 41 Ford Utes from Sedans. For these 2 years, they didn't have the Factory Ute Body that the other Utes had.

Possibly what is also referred to as C11ADF which is a heavy duty woody station waggon type military vehicle with the heavy full floating rear axle and open drive shaft with car front.900X13 desert tyres and may have had a rear door on only one side.A long shot but O1T only seems to refer to 122" and 134"trucks on 17" or 18" tyres. Cheers

Earlier wide five axles, or just drums, on it as well.

Hi guys , I decided to buy this ute . Its 1940, chassis # 01Y-5015-RH ,engine # is 1B951F and is stamped on the chassis as well , body work was done by PETERS,BRYDEN&PETERS BODY BUILDERS ,REDFERN ,SYDNEY. I am told it carried a 2pound gun in the rear . I dont know anything about the gun , but would buy one to put in the back if it was available , I am told there is a gun for sale some where in Australia. Apparently the Australian war museum knows about this truck , andmy sources tell me it is 1 of 34 made. Any one think they can put a price on this rocket when finished ?

My guess, if it is like anything else I do. It will be One Third of the money that I have in it.
If you are into Old Fords and expect to profit from a car. Buy one that someone else put a ton of money into and will never get back.
Sorry for being so Crabby but when i went for a beer all the cold ones were gone.

Hi Robin, This Truck might be rare and unique, but I don't think there would be a queue up waiting to buy such a vehicle. I doubt that you would ever get your money back on such a project. If you could get some original pictures of the truck when it was in Military use, some of the Military collectors may be interested, as there are quite a few out there that are into old Fords that were used during World War II. What is the Body Number stamped on teh Cowl?

They might have used those to carry weapons in tow during the war. The chassis doesn't look large enough or heavy enough to carry any sizable guns that big in the back but it may have been an ammo carrier or used to tow light portable gun systems. I've seen photos of 2-pounder anti tank guns on the back of universal carriers though. I bet it would really make one bounce when fired off.

Looks like the only missing sheet metal would be the (relatively) "easy to find" front clip.

Hi again the numbers on the cowl are 01T-85 80 . I have been searching for photos of this truck for a few weeks now and cant find any , took half a 44 gallon drum of crap out from inside the cabin. I think the company that made the body are still going in Sydney , I am going to phone them today.
cheers Robin

Perhaps that company in Sydney would be willing to help
with the restoration in some way.

The numbers indicate a 1940 truck with 85 HP. The wide fives are consistent with that for a 1-ton truck. The "80" might be a designator added later. I think the 40 front sheet metal looks better than the 42 stuff although either would likely be useable. I don't know if it could be classified as a coupe but it definitely is a utility body.

It is kind of hard to play a guessing game with no photos or confirmation. If it has frontal sheet metal already in place then it would be more identifiable for the year of manufacture.

Hi its the same truck in the above posts , it is 1940 model truck after all ,it has no front sheet metal but my father in law says he has what I need, I stripped out the interior the other day . the seats look like they came from my granny's lounge room . all the seat mounts have the coach bolts holding them in peened over which would suggest the interior is original . I don't have a camera YET and when I do I will email some pics .
cheers Robin
