Default Patch panels

I'm going to install rear quarter and inner fender patch panels on a '29 Tudor. Each panel has a 1" flange on the bottom that is at a right angle to the panel. When installing the panels should the flanges be bent up inside the subrails or should they be left flat?

they were orig. folded under and spot welded. make sure you remove all of the old one first. If you got a good spot welder it will keep them tight and no rattles.

These should be crimped over. Originally these were somewhat scallaped on the back side. Also not the spot welds that were also used in afew key places. I wish I would have taken better pic's to help you out abit more. Small details make a difference to some and are overlooked by others. Rod

i drilled 1/4 inch holes through the lower front lip. every 3 inches. clamped tight and plug welded them to the sub-rail. used a flapper wheel to smooth out and buff. cant even see anything was changed. i left the tab stick stright out and go under the wooded block. snipped on either side of the block, folded up into inner sub-rail and seam sealed inner rail. much stronger also much eaiser to do

I agree with Chopo. Using plug or rosette welds is how I would do it.
