Default Security???

In today's corrupt world filled with thieves, scammers and other forms of low life, do you guard your location and/or the location of your antique car/s?
Just wondering....................

Whats the difference between your "exact location" and the address they sent the card to? I wouldn't think of it as a social engineering scam because they clearly already have your address, so they can probably easily find your cars without you calling in...

They do but it's not published for all to see.

The way i see it, i think you're more likely to get your 96 Civic stolen than your 29 Model A. I think that because there are so many civics out there, yours would get lost in the shuffle and be a lot harder to find.

The market for model As is small in comparison, and if someone were to steal yours, it would be hard for it to go un-noticed. Not to mention, You undoubtably have the serial number registered with AACA and MAFCA. I don't see anyone steeling it unless it is of some intrinsic value such as winning awards or such and such, and if that was the case, the car would be even more recognizable, and therefor the fence would be caught.

I think your auto theft market is a bigger problem for newer cars, or more rare classics. Not your antique, made-by-the-millions model A.

I am sure that if the overall statistics were available there is likely less Model A Fords or pre 1932 cars stolen than any other cars. Not something we should lose sleep over. Wayne

probably the worst thing you can do is put a mural on a barn or structure showing whats inside. i also saw an enclosed trailer at the AACA meet in VA that was wrapped showing an exact pic of the car it carry's..
brilliant

The intrinsic value of a Model A is in the Henry Ford Steel -- super valuable to hot rodders. Once they are disassembled and otherwise altered for such a project, are totally unrecognizable as the original car.

When shopping locally, I didn't worry about Minerva that much. I parked close by in a handicap space & quite a few folks would stop by to check her out.
A man in the drug store----"Bet you own that A Model, outside"------"How'd you know"??------"Oh, you just got that LOOK"!------"What'd he MEAN"???----Drove home, feeling PARANOID---Pat caught me staring in the garage mirror????------------------

No, MAFCA has no Model A VIN registry.

There are some Special Interest Groups (SIGs) within MAFCA that focus on specific body styles. They may or may not keep a registry of those specific vehicles. I don't know.

AACA does keep a vehicle database. It is voluntary. They use it in conjunction with their car judging.

Your best record of your vehicle's VIN is your insurance policy records and your car's title and registration records. You do not need to depend on anyone else.

But it would be funny if someone tried to register a stolen car with the AACA system and it came up as "already registered" to the prior owner.

Usually when I am out driving and running into a store, I leave the keys in the ignition. No one within 100 miles knows how to start it anyway. However, when in storage they are in a pretty secure metal building with some semi-exotic security systems. I raise venomous snakes, you see.....

I think MAFFI has a registry. Your tools are probably more valuable to a thief.

A friend noticed the keys hanging from the dash of my coupe and made a smart remark about being able to steal it. I told him go ahead. 30 minutes later he was still at a loss as to how to start it. I think its safe.

Carl your remarks make hot rodders sound like criminals, was that how you meant it to sound?

Ya look how often they steal trailers and once they find the car inside abandon the car and keep the trailer. Think about the fact that every time you drive or load your car there are eyes that see it! MaHaHa!

I try not to think about it. the only time I have had a problem was when someone tried to steal the motor meter rad cap. I was parked in Burbank calif and was a Fryes when I came out the cap was open and when I went to close it, it came off. another time in Burbank calif at target I came out of the store and a lady that didn't speak any English was letting her kid jump up and down in the rumble set like it was a carnival ride.
