Default is 1930 windshield wiper motor vacuum operated?

Shot in the dark, but is this this the vacuum is for the wiper?

Yes, that is the vacuum port on the intake manifold, there is a metal tube that goes to a special fitting on the firewall.

It's also a good place to put in vacuum gauge when trouble shooting a poor running problem.

From the picture it looks like you have your fuel line turned end for end. It should drop down as soon as it leaves the sediment bulb, then turn forward to the carb.

I didn't realize that it was so important to have it drop down immediately but now it makes sense.

It should work either way, but looks a little neater thre way Ford ran it, and it might be a bit cooler since heat rises. I'm thinking it would also be less prone to vibration, which could lead to work hardening and cracks near the fittings.
